In its fifth Global Videowall report Futuresource Consulting has established that the videowall sector grew by 19 percent in 2014, with around 536,000 units now in use throughout the market.

With a demand for increasingly narrow bezels coupled with a rise in demand for verticals in retail, broadcast and leisure settings, narrow pixel-pitch LED is anticipated to make up 31 percent of the value of the videowall market by 2019.

"The early disruptive impact from [narrow pixel-pitch] LED has been clear with the competitive landscape changing dramatically across 2014 –15, as display vendors increasingly include the technology in their line-ups," elaborates Chris Mcintyre-Brown, associate director of displays and broadcast equipment at Futuresource.

"The burning question has been: to what extent it will impact existing tiled display options? [Narrow pixel-pitch] will certainly take market share, but there are plenty of opportunities to allow technologies to co-exist together, typically dictated by specific performance advantages and vertical market demands."
