Fiery API from EFI to streamline and integrate digital print production
EFI has released an API for its Fiery RIP designed to help users optimise and automate their existing production management systems.
The API allows users to modify Fiery to suite their specific requirements and streamline operations. It incorporates a web app framework and customisable user management tools to control elements such as such as media size and type, to job submissions and RIP processing. It is available to use on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and several other operating systems.
Endicia, an online shipping technology and services enterprise in California, was one of the first companies to implement the API to connect its postage stamp printing and shipment service PictureItPostage with its Fiery DFE. The company states that this has resulted in a large productivity increase to the extent that it now processes more than a thousand jobs per day, as opposed to the fewer than one hundred that it handled previously.
"Each Fiery DFE user's workflow is unique to his or her own business; to help those customers get the most out of their digital printing workflows, EFI is making the simple and easy-to-use Fiery API available to customers free of charge," explains John Henze, vice-president of marketing for EFI Fiery. "Our customers now have more power than ever before to create their own secure, robust and effective solutions to specific production challenges and opportunities."
The API is licensed for free and firms can check if their Fiery DFE is supported here.
